The CoolSculpting® procedure is a non-surgical liposuction alternative, now available in New York from Dr. Lisa Airan. CoolSculpting uses a precisely controlled cooling method called Cryolipolysis™ to target, cool, and safely eliminate fat cells without damaging other tissues.
After a short CoolSculpting procedure, the patient’s body goes to work. Over the next 2 to 4 months, the crystallized fat cells break down and are naturally eliminated from the body.

What happens during the procedure?
Together with Dr. Airan, you will pick the area to be treated. For example, if your goal is to reduce belly fat, we will position the system on the abdomen. The device then gently draws the bulge up between two cooling panels. The sensation is a firm pull – enough of a pull to ensure the tissue will be cooled most efficiently.
What does it feel like?
As the panels go to work in the first few minutes, the patient feels a sensation of intense cold. This soon dissipates. You will be seated comfortably or lying down during the short procedure. Many people spend this time reading, working on their laptop, or even taking a nap.
What will the results be?
The CoolSculpting procedure can reduce the fat layer by an average reduction of 20%. Additional treatments can be done after 2 to 4 months.
Can I return to normal activities after the procedure?
Yes! The CoolSculpting procedure is completely non-invasive, so you can return to normal activities immediately. Some patients experience temporary redness, minor bruising, tingling, or numbness in the area treated.

You may start to see changes in as little as 3 weeks after treatment, and will experience the most dramatic results after 2 months. But, the body is still eliminating fat cells, and will continue doing so for up to 4 months.
Are the results permanent?
During the CoolSculpting procedure, the treated fat cells are eliminated. As long as the patient maintains his or her weight with diet and exercise, long-term results should remain stable.
Is there treatment for a double chin?
Yes! CoolSculpting’s CoolMini™ applicator is a noninvasive treatment to reduce fat under the chin and contour the neck. This procedure requires no needles or downtime, and most patients see results after 1 or 2 treatments.
Dr. Airan also offers KYBELLA® to reduce stubborn submental fat, otherwise known as a double chin. This injectable treatment is ideal for patients who don’t want to have surgery to remove fat from beneath the chin.
