Laser Skin Resurfacing in Manhattan

Even if your complexion looks old and tired, there is younger, healthier skin below that can give you a radiant new appearance. Dr. Lisa Airan performs laser skin resurfacing at her Manhattan office to reveal this younger skin and minimize the appearance of surface blemishes.

MIXTO Laser Resurfacing

The MIXTO Fractionated CO2 laser device used at our practice is effective for treating sun damage / brown spots, skin texture, skin laxity, and acne scars. The dermis, which is the deepest level of the skin, is warmed to stimulate the production of new collagen while the outermost level of the skin is ablated to remove sun damage. Laser resurfacing leads to even skin tone and improvement in skin texture and skin tightening. If scars are present, there is significant improvement in the appearance. Although the scars cannot be erased, they will be blended and much less noticeable.

A mild stinging sensation is experienced during the laser resurfacing procedure. Pain medicine is given by mouth and a numbing cream is applied to ensure your comfort level. Results are achieved in one treatment which takes less than an hour.

Recovery

After a laser resurfacing treatment, you will have redness like a sunburn and some swelling. For approximately 3 days there will be a red-brown crusting on the face. A petrolatum such as Catrix or Aquaphor will need to be worn until the crusting sloughs off. You should plan on approximately 5 days of “down time.”

Patients sometimes choose to combine laser skin resurfacing with other treatments, such as a non-surgical lower eyelid lift to decrease the appearance of eyelid bags or hollows under the eyes.
