Body Fat Grafting
Can you take unwanted belly fat and use it to plump up a flat behind? In fact, yes. Body micro fat grafting (also referred to as fat transfer or fat injections) is a procedure that involves transferring fat from one part of the body to another in order to volumize, shape and sculpt the desired area(s). Dr. Born can use fat grafting to create a more voluptuous behind, soften aging and boney hands, and smooth out unsightly hollows or indentations on the body. One of the most requested procedures is the Brazilian Butt Lift which involves a precise application of the fat grafting technique to achieve a fuller, rounder and firmer backside. Dr. Born specializes in fat grafting techniques, and is regarded as an authority on fat grafting surgery amongst his peers. During your private consultation, he will listen to your concerns and determine if micro fat grafting is the right procedure for you.
What it Is
Body micro fat grafting is a surgical procedure that uses fat to contour, shape and plump up deflated or “flat” areas on the body. Body fat grafting can also be used to fill in hollows or irregular depressions on the body, and can help even out and correct strange “lumpy” contours caused by improperly performed liposuction.
Before the procedure, the patient, with the guidance of Dr. Born, will determine the “donor” site on the body from which the fat will be harvested. Typically, excess and unwanted fat can be found on the abdomen, buttocks, inner thighs, arms and back. During the procedure, fat is first removed from the chosen donor site using a liposuction cannula (a thin, tube-like syringe). This fat is then prepared—filtered and purified—before re-injection into the chosen recipient site. Body micro fat grafting offers a long-lasting surgical result with a natural look and feel. Additionally, since fat transfer involves the use of your own fat cells, it is biocompatible and thus there is no risk of allergic reaction or rejection.
Is it For Me?
Body micro fat grafting is a very safe procedure with a high success rate that can generally be performed on people of all ages. During your initial consultation, Dr. Born will gather a complete medical history and perform a physical assessment in order to determine if you are a suitable candidate for the procedure. We advise new patients to come with a list of questions, so that you may discuss the specifics of your case and feel confident that any proposed treatments address all of your unique concerns. For those who would like to achieve a more shapely body contour; add volume to certain areas such as the buttocks, legs, breasts, and hands; correct uneven results from previous liposuction surgery; or fill in irregular scars, hollows, dents, or depressions on the body, body micro fat grafting surgery may offer a solution.

What to Expect
Body micro fat grafting surgery can be performed under local or general anesthetic depending on the patient and the areas which are to be treated. It is important to remember that body micro fat grafting surgery is not for everyone. Side effects can include swelling, bruising, numbness or tenderness in the treated area. There may also be some oozing of fluid and/or bleeding at the donor site. Side effects can last anywhere from 5 days up to one month. Dr. Born will discuss in details all of the potential risks associated with your fat grafting surgery during your private consultation. Our pre-operative screening process is designed to determine if you are a good candidate for surgery.
